Meet The Band
Eric Whiting
Guitar/Vocals
Eric is from Buchanan, Virginia. He serves mostly as lead vocalist as well as rhythm guitarist.
His flexibility and diversity as an instrumentalist on other instruments such as piano make him a valuable part of PS 7:17. His working experience with engineering and electricity has also played an important role in leading the band into venturing in building some of their own equipment and running their own sound on numerous occasions.
"If we stick true to what our name means, then we can't go wrong...God has His plans, and He has plans for each of us. For our band, these little signs that keep popping up could mean we're heading in the right direction. We want to keep Him our focus and see where He ends up taking us."

Rob Smith
Bass Guitar
Rob is from Eagle Rock, Virginia and currently lives in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He plays as the bassist for PS 7:17 and is working for a local church as a worship leader. He's spent time around other bands and sound projects as well and has been involved in worship leading on and off the campus of James Madison University. Rob writes mostly as a lyricist in his own time for experimentation. A JMU alum, he brings a level of working experience and expertise within the music industry to the table for PS 7:17.
"We ourselves are instruments being used in a way by God, sort of like how we use the instruments in our hands to play music. Ultimately, we are the tools being used by one much greater than us. We desire for our music and our shows to get to the point where we fade away and people don't see us anymore; they're there encountering God and experiencing His unfailing love for us all, and feeling that along with us."
Greg Whiting
Guitar/Vocals
Greg is the youngest member of PS 7:17, also from Buchanan, Virginia. He started playing as a guitarist in the band fresh out of high school and going into college, while everyone else was already in college. He plays lead while also stepping into the role of vocalist. Greg's musicianship doesn't end there, he plays as the main pianist as well. He and his brother Eric bring a great chemistry to the line-up with their similar styles both as guitarists and as vocalists.
"This band and the work we put into it is a personal ministry. We
can glorify Him by taking some extra time out of our lives and dedicate it to
Him while working towards a greater ministry we can share with others when we
play our music. I know personally my life wouldn't hurt from glorifying God a little more. He is the reason we're playing music after all."

Matt Smith
Drums and Percussion
Matt is a self-taught drummer from Eagle Rock, Virginia. He picked up playing the drums without ever having taken lessons and played his first show as a member of "JJ Was Innocent" in a talent show in high school. The conception of PS 7:17 was essentially made complete after he joined the band. Matt also has some skills as a guitarist. He is currently a student at JMU.
"There are purposes for everything in life, big or small. Our plans may or may not be exactly what we envision but they will ultimately be used not only in our lives, but to expand the Kingdom."
