So it’s been a while since our last blog post and since then, a
number of crazy cool things have happened for us. We’ve learned some of the do’s
and don’ts of home recording (including sitting on ladders and holding
microphones 15 feet above the drum kit during recording in an attempt to
eliminate overwhelming drum noise). We wrote a new song, tweaked some old ones,
and have started formulating some ideas for a CD. Some really sweet things have
taken place too that we’ve had the blessing and opportunity to be a part of.
We’ve gotten to play a few shows in multiple locations and one of them was
something totally outside of what we’re used to. Yet, it was so much fun and
such an incredible experience, we’d do it again in a heartbeat and we certainly
hope to do more shows like it. We got to hold a benefit concert for the Teen
Challenge in our area (Eastern Appalachian Teen Challenge) which is a part of a
national organization which empowers teens and young adults to overcome
destructive and addictive behaviors and also serves as a crisis counseling
center and does so with a Christ-centered focus. It’s been extremely successful
in its work in improving the lives of others and has been recognized widely for
doing so. It was one of the most fun things we’ve gotten to do as a band so far
and, funny enough, we were able to play for a packed room and raise $717 which
all went toward Teen Challenge. (If you’re at all familiar with our story, the
717 was definitely an encouragement for us and a reminder of why we do what we
do. If you’re not, read our bio and you’ll see why.) We were also blessed with
the chance to briefly meet the young women who the money went to on our way to a
show a few weeks ago. In the interest of keeping this blog short, a young woman
shared her testimony/life story with us and how she came to be at Teen Challenge
and of the incredible work God had done in her life. Hearing this story
first-hand about redemption and unfailing love absolutely floored us. It was
such a beautiful reminder that we’re all created with a purpose. Each and every
single one of us on this earth. And that’s why we love making music. Because we
were created to worship God and we’re trying to do it the best way we know how
as a band.
